Since there is controversy all over the U.S (the world, even) about the politics of this country (America), I wanted to touch upon a subject(s) that is very near and dear to my heart (and should be to yours!). GMO (genetically modified organism) Food.
While I wont get into the entire history, as I am sure you know the jest of just how dangerous it really is, I am going to let you know the basics behind it.
GMO food is world wide, has been for years, specially known in our corn. GMOs have had specific changes introduced into their DNA by genetic engineering techniques. Monsanto, a company that provides GMO, is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, making the general public believe that what they buying/consuming is better and more cost effective than the work that is put in into growing/maintaining food. Many of you many not know, but unfortunately our president decided to sign an bill that waved the right to Monsanto and this company does NOT have to label what is a GMO product. This can be very bad. For example, when you go to the local grocer, and you buy organic food, you are not promised that what you buy (organic or not) is being genetically altered.
So?! Geesh, Serina, who cares! It last longer and it tastes the same, why does this make it bad?!
Lemme explain…and it stems form us, the people, not being in control of our own food, that is why I am an avid home-grown kinda sprout, but the effects of GMO have/has been linked to include liver cancer, kidney cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer (for men too), thyroid tumors, Parkinson’s disease, infertility, birth defects, autism and brain tumors, just to name a few.
